It’s a week of creativity …. come join the fun!
So glad to see you!
You may be wondering, what is a 7 day art binge, and why should I do it? What it is: we’re going to do an art journaling/mixed media project every day for seven days. Why: because art and creativity are good for you. A daily practice is good for you. There are even studies to prove it. Trust me, I’m a librarian, I can get them for you.
This time of year there are lots of demands on us. The winter holidays are coming, at least here in the northern hemisphere, and this time of year can make you feel like there’s not enough time, not enough energy. This makes it the perfect time to do something good for yourself.
It’s a perfect time to focus on your own well-being and fill up on something good.
No purges or cleanses here. We’re going to binge on creativity!
You may still have a few questions, such as ….
Who are you and why are you doing this?
I’m doing this because I love to create, and I love what creating and doing art does for me, how it makes me feel. And I want to share that with all of you. I’ve been doing artsy stuff since I was little. Paints and crayons led to embroidery and cross stitch. I was serious about music, I’ve done jewelry making, taken photography classes, knitted, quilted, crocheted, and all sorts of things.
In 2010, I was able to refocus on painting, and I haven’t looked back. For the past 7 years now, I’ve been happily painting and doing some mixed media work and art journaling.
I’ve just recently completed my teacher training in Intentional Creativity with Shiloh Sophia, and that has made me really want to share art with all of you out there.
Also, this is a great way to make sure I get my daily practice in. Because it is hard. Somedays are tough. But it’s just a really great thing to be creative and let your right brain and left brain take turns being in control.
What will I need if I join in?
If you choose to join us, over the seven days of the Binge you’ll receive messages with information about the different projects. As mentioned above, these will be art journaling mixed media type projects that can be done with a lot of different materials. So if you don’t have a lot of art supplies, you won’t have to go buy a bunch of stuff if you don’t want to. If your kids have some stuff around, you can borrow it. You can use crayons, markers, and if you have paints, that’s great. The inexpensive craft paints work well for these projects. For some of these, you’ll need magazines and glue. When you sign up, you’ll get a complete supply list with suggestions and alternate options.
You can use a journal or notebook, or even loose sheets of paper. If you’re a scrapbooker, you may have lots of blank sheets already, and you can use those and just store them in one of your binders or boxes. You can use computer paper and markers. You don’t have to get fancy. This is about unleashing your creativity and having fun.
Whatever you want to use will be just fine. There’s no right or wrong when it comes to creating!
We will also have a private Facebook group to share our work and interact together, if you’re interested in that. The lessons will be recorded so you can watch them whenever you can — there’s no specific time you have to be online. You can join from any time zone, at your leisure.
What do I have to do to sign up?
There’s a link to sign up right here. Oh, and did I mention it’s free? Yeah, I should have said that before. My gift to you!
